Apple has a legacy of charitable giving to teachers and schools to support student success. The Foundation board approved partnerships with the following organizations in 2008 and awarded grants totaling over $84,000 in support of their worthy efforts:
- American Cancer Society To join the fight against cancer.
- Virginia Association of Teacher Educators
- College Access Fairfax To help students acquire financial aid for post-secondary education.
- Colonial Williamsburg Foundation To provide electronic field trips to the historic site for students at seven elementary schools in Virginia. The "trips" allow students to experience the historic site through a variety of television broadcasts, the internet and colorful teacher materials
- Fairfax Futures To benefit early education programs for youngsters designed to effectively prepare them for kindergarten.
- Fairfax High School Academy To support The Creative Leaders Project: Gateway to the 21st Century Workforce. - Frederick County Teacher of the Year Program To recognize the key role teachers play in educating our youth.
- Future Business Leaders of America To sponsor student awards in contests designed to strengthen business leadership, reach occupational goals and encourage improvement in home, business and community.
- Fairfax Spotlight on the Arts To support Northern Virginia's leading festival of arts and culture.
- Grants for classroom teachers in Fairfax, Stafford, and Frederick counties.
- Special Olympics To sponsor the Special Olympics' 2008 Sports and Entertainment Trivia Challenge Event to benefit the state program. It's all part of a national effort to create opportunities for persons with intellectual disabilities to showcase their courage, determination and skill.
- Virginia Staff Development Council To support its annual conference. The meeting stressed development of the capacity of school staffs to meet the needs of all students through professional learning communities.
- Virginia Teacher of the Year Program To recognize the key role teachers play in educating our youth.
