Times are tough. They’re especially tough for many of our high school seniors as they search for ways to realize the dream of attending college. With rising costs and diminishing funds, the challenge to financing higher education has never been greater.

The 2009 Apple Scholars Charitable Contribution Campaign is our latest call to fill a great need: supporting our students in their quest for higher education. There is no better investment than empowering a student who has the desire to learn.

Started in 2008, the Apple Scholars program awards $2,000 scholarships to members of the Apple FCU community. Sponsored by our Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3) founded in 2006, we were able to award 38 scholarships last year to students who went on to attend four-year and two-year colleges. Those recipients who attended Northern Virginia Community College were able to finance one full semester with their scholarship award.

We need you, Apple members, to sustain this wonderful effort. We share a deep legacy of supporting one another, especially when the chips are down. Apple FCU was founded over 50 years ago as an organization where people come together to help one another. As an organization, we believe in the power of combined efforts to further the greater good.

Please consider helping to send a deserving high school senior to college by making a contribution. Because of Apple’s support, one hundred percent of every donation goes directly to a student scholarship.
