Manassas City Public Schools Impact Grants

Cybersecurity
Osbourn High School

We used grant funds to help in developing a Cybersecurity program at Osbourn High School. There is an area of high need for employment in the Northern Virginia area and it is our responsibility to prepare students to enter in the workforce where they can receive high wage salaries. Manassas City Public Schools received a $25,0000 grant from the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia to help develop this program at Osbourn High School. The MCPS Education Foundation has been working to raise a $25,000 match for this grant throughout the school year. We decided to utilize the Apple Impact Grant as part of the $25,000 match. At this point, there are over 100 students enrolled for the classes that will begin next year. The Career and Technical Education staff of MCPS are working with the Virginia Gaming Institute of George Mason University and Northern Virginia Community College to offer students the opportunity to receive a certificate upon graduation, as well as dual enrollment options. The ultimate goal for this program is for students to be able to graduate from Osbourn High School with an Associates degree in the field of Cybersecurity.
